Pratts Bottom has already been mentioned in an earlier post but I am not sure if anyone has said that one of the neighbouring villages is called Badgers Mount. Sadly I don't think that the two locations actually appear together on a signpost because that would be too hilarious for words!

Talking of combinations of village names on roadsigns, there is a signpost in Kent that points to Ham Sandwich. Sandwich being a fairly large town and Ham a small village nearby. Regrettably I don't have a photo as the sign keeps mysteriously disappearing. |

Some of those street signs are what you might call fictitious, are they not?
There really was a Butt Hole Road in Conisbrough near Doncaster though, but as noted it has by now changed its name. Butt Hole Lane in Shepshed, Leicestershire hasn't though - put LE12 9BN into Google Maps, and check out the road upon which the football stadium stands (it is the home of Shepshed Dynamo FC, of the Unibond Northern Premier League).
I'm not convinced about Slutshole Lane, which is alleged to be in Spooner Row, Norfolk - if it's really there, Google Maps doesn't know about it. Fanny Hands Lane in Ludford, Lincolnshire really exists though (put LN8 6AL into Google Maps and zoom right in). Or try NN9 6DF, in Raunds, Northamptonshire. |

Allowance for local dialect (and a look at the map) will explain this one.
Also from my home county or just over the border, there's a village called Flash (once famous for counterfeiting coinage, hence the expression "flash money"), and the neighbouring features Flash Bottom and Cheeks Hill.
And what is it with Barton and beans? In Notts there is a Barton-in-the-Beans, and just down the road (I think in Leics) there is Barton-in-Fabis. |

Is that the same Flash that was in the Guinness BoR as the highest village in England? |
