Sid Vicious was named after a hamster (John Lydon's). Seems that Lydon's hamster Sid bit John Ritchie (as Vicious was then known), and Mr Ritchie responded with words to the effect of "Your Sid is vicious".

There was the hamster that Freddie Star ate; allegedly.

There were a series of rather anodyne children's books I remember from my youth that centred around the exploits of Hannibal, a hamster who always seemed to esacpe from his owners whilst they were out for a picnic or some other sort of field-trip (not sure why they brought him with them in the first place). There was also Roland Rat's sidekick Erroll the Hamster (along with Kevin the Gerbil and Glynis the Guinea-Pig)

We must also include Penfold and Special Patrol Group, Vyvyan's destructive hamster from The Young Ones.

There was King Arthur's mother. She was a hamster apparently.

His father also allegedly smelt of elderberries.

Kirk Hammett from Metallica...

Used to play a Fender Stratocaster copy that was known as The Hamstercaster, but I can't find a picture of that.
