Has anyone else noticed the strange mark covering some of the text on p170 of this book?

I'm pretty sure it's not because my copy's been damaged, but wanted to know if there was a known printing error?

Otherwise, just finished reading it and it's about as good as "General Ignorance", (which I thought was brilliant).

Just checked my copy. The shark page is clear. Sorry, must be yours.

Ooh, potential collectors’ edition! Might be worth a fortune!

Ah ... Muffin, is there any particular time of day when you habitually go out and leave your house unlocked? I’ve no special reason for asking, just idle curiosity ...

I bought mine off play.com, so perhaps their entire supply were these special "collector's edition" versions?

I have finished it. I am concerned all these mistakes people have found on the BoGI, BoAI and QI annual. Sounds like editing problems.

I think every book is like that, it's just that not every book has an army of pedants scrutinising every letter. :-P

I wouldn't say so PWUM. For sure, there are a handful of typos which might have been picked up at the proof reading stage - but so there are in all books of any length. And I'm sure there were rather more that were identified and corrected at that stage.

As for actual wrongnesses, well again all factual books have them - even things like the Encyclopædia Britannica. Take a QI book and count the number of things claimed which turn out not to be so. Then take one of those "trivia" books (I got one for Xmas, purely for comedy value) and do the same. I'd wager a fair amount of money on which exercise would give you a larger number.
