Once related to the similar idea of Parkour (the art of displacement), but broke off to embrace the ideal of complete freedom of movement compared to Parkour's idea of moving from Point A to Point B as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
Free running uses the idea of combining "tricking and "street stunts" with the movements usually used in Parkour.
Founded by Sebastien Foucan and his chilldhood friend David Belle, free running has recently been featured in two Channel 4 documentaries, Jump London and Jump Britain.

There are some excellent displays of Parkour/free running in the film District 13. Well worth a look.

(btw, austin, is the WLIIA picture sig strictly necessary?)

I watched both of those documentries, and thought both were absolutely fascinating.

How long before the health and safety police come in and ban it though!!!

Don't worry, I won't be doing it all the time.

Sebastien Foucan was also given a "starring" role/cameo in the Casino Royale film with Daniel Craig, as a bad guy. You know the bit where 007 and the bad guy are leaping from crane to crane, the black guy in that is Sebastien Foucan.

I could have described that more eloquently but I'm too lazy!
