You support a League one side eggshaped? I support Forest myself and would be interested to learn how many places higher than your team we came this season ;) |

I hope you are not referring to the fact that Nottingham Forest are still in League One (or League Division Three as it should really be known..) having been knocked out of the play-offs by Yeovil. Those of us who live in Derby (whose team have just been promoted to the Premier League) will not tolerate any gloating. |

My apologies to the good folk of Derby for seeming to gloat over Nottingham Forest's failure to win promotion. I was merely pointing out that finishing above any potential eggshaped-supported side didn't do them any good.
And good on Derby County for stopping Southampton reaching the Premiership. |

I'm a Tranmere fan, and I think you probably finished about 4 or 5 places above us.
I say "fan" though, I didn't go to any matches this year, and haven't been regularly for years. |

On a related theme...
Can anyone name the first three Irishmen of Afro-Carribean extraction to play at Lansdowne Rd (Rugby and Association Football stadium here)? |

Now then. I know little about rugby, so I cannot name any black players who may have appeared in the Ireland rugby team.
As far as football goes, Chris Hughton was I think the first black man to play football for the RoI - but he's actually English. I recall that for a time in the 90s Ireland had a back line of Paul McGrath, Phil Babb and Terry Phelan - but the last two of these are essentially English as well. (McGrath too was born in England, but only because his mother happened to be there at the time - he is indubitably an Irishman.)
So I'm struggling a bit. Anyone else got any ideas? |

| Clinton Morrison has Afro-Caribbean heritage, and he plays for the Republic of Ireland. I'm pretty sure Paul McGrath's father was from Nigeria. I don't know about the others. |

| He certainly has Afro-Caribbean heritage, but he too is English to most ways of thinking - his eligibility for Ireland coming solely from a grandmother. |

| That's quite a strong claim when compared to some other bogus Irish people. |

Oh it is - the classic example being Tony Cascarino who later admitted that he wasn't Irish at all and was never eligible.
But is Clinton Morrison any more Irish than (for example) Kevin Pietersen is English? |
