In which case, you mustn't stop at Wanderers - in fact we think you can move closer to your home turf.
Blackburn Olympic only took part in the FA Cup twice - winning it once and losing in the semi final the other time.
Their full record reads thusly:
1882-83 v Darwen Ramblers 8-0, v Church 2-0, v Druids 4-1, v Old Carthusians 4-0, v Old Etonians 2-1
1883-84 v Old Wykehamists 6-0, v Northwich Victoria 9-1, v Queen's Park 1-4
7 wins in 8 games. 87.5%.

Not a bad record at all. And yes as Cup winners I don't feel it fair to exclude them from this record. |

| Interesting that Blackburn Olympic used that name before the inception of the modern Olympic Games. |

The next question could always be.
Which team has the record for the longest unbeaten run in FA Cup history?
A clue for you, it's a current premiership club |

That'd be the Arse, with 49, I believe.

49? Where do you get that from?
It's usually claimed that Pompey have held the F.A. Cup for more consecutive years than anybody else, having won the trophy in 1939 and keeping it until 1946. Some sort of fight took over in the intervening years. |

The figure is actually 18 games without defeat, from the Third Round of the 2001-02 competition (4-2 at Oxford United) to the Sixth Round of the 2003-04 competition (5-1 at Portsmouth). They then lost 0-1 to Manchester United in that year's semi final.
But in terms of longest time without a defeat, samivel has to be right. Portsmouth didn't lose an FA cup game between their 1-2 defeat at mighty Brentford in the Fourth Round 1937-38 and their 0-1 defeat at Birmingham City in the Third Round 1945-46. |

| We don't have many claims to records down here, so we have to make the most of the ones we do have. I know of people who, when Pompey won promotion to the Premiership, complained that we had lost our record as the side who had been in the second tier of football (whatever it was called at the time) longer than any other. |

You'll always have the record of the most annoying supporters in the country though. That bloody cowbell...
If you forget the war, I think I'm right in saying that Blackburn have the most conseccutive FA Cup games without defeat - some time in the pre-premier league era I think (around the 1880s). |

A bit of a local story says that Marlow FC have entered every FA Cup since 1871, and a quick look on wikipedia confirms this:
| Wikipedia wrote: | | Marlow are one of only two teams to have entered the FA Cup in every season since its inception (although on one occasion they withdrew before playing their first match). |
Does anyone know what the second team is? |

The rather superb Football Club History Database doesn't list Marlow as having played in every F.A. Cup competition, but then it could have incomplete records.
The first F.A. Cup in 1871 was competed for by fifteen teams, namely:
Wanderers
Harrow Chequers
Clapham Rovers
Upton Park
Crystal Palace
Hitchin
Maidenhead
Marlow
Royal Engineers
Reigate Priory
Barnes
Civil Service
Queens Park (Glasgow)
Donington School (Spalding)
Hampstead Heathens
Of those, it seems to be between Crystal Palace, Hitchin and Maidenhead for the other spot. But the clubs that are going today are not the same as the clubs that were around in 1871, so whether they're the same teams is a moot point. |

Queens Park? Did they get on the wrong train or something?
Mind you, I'm still trying to get over suze's bit of info that there used to be a footie team called "Druids." Presumably they didn't do very well 'cos they kept tripping over their flowing white robes. |

Ah, good old John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood.

Not quite - between their 1-0 defeat to Old Etonians in the 1882 final to their 2-1 quarter-final reverse at Derby Junction, Blackburn were unbeaten in 17 successive F.A. Cup ties (16 wins and a semi-final draw), winning the competition three times, but, as suze pointed out above, Arsenal were unbeaten for 18 matches between the 2001 final (lost 2-1 to Liverpool) and the 2004 semi-final (lost 1-0 to Manchester United).
