The oldest European crown in existence is like an Australian bush hat, only the dangling corks are made out of sapphires. It is also customised for it's owner with hanging pendants spelling the latinized name of Recceswinth the 7th C King of the Visigoths.
It is made from gold with sapphires, pearls, and garnets. It is now in the
Museo Arqueologico Nacional, Madrid.
I think it's kind of interesting looking.
