I doubt it, as AGB's wife was a deaf mute. She probably let her husband take the calls.

So does that mean that Menucci was at the other end of the line screaming, "Can you hear me now?"?

I've just found out something splendid about Scottish sporting triumphs.

It would appear that there is one sport that Scots excel at, to the point where they have won the world championships no less than four times since 2000.

That sport is Elephant Polo.

Who would have thunk it?

When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, whom could he call?

Antoni Meucci perhaps?

'Hello?'
'Hi it's Alex here. Just wanted to say nyer nyer.'

We also excel at indoor bowls, having taken the Men' singles world championships 7 times in the past 10 years and the Triples championship in 3 of the leas four tournaments.

And, we have won the last couple of international Shinty/Hurling tournaments, and are in the top three curling teams in the world.

We're also pretty damn good at snooker! "sports" you can play in the pub, now that's genius!

One of my favourite scottish jokes was made by Danny Bhoy after we'd just won the women's curling or something.

"Curling? That's not a sport, that's just how you put your rubbish out in the morning anywhere north of Inverness!" *cue lovely mime of someone sliding their rubbish bags down an icy front path*

It left a vivid picture. :)

Are there actually any 'Scottish' people on the Scotland thread?

:)
