Q: What was this man talking about?
“This Bill is strongly suggestive of the Hitlerite regime now being destroyed in Germany.”

A: The National Health Service Act (1946); the speaker was a doctor addressing the BMA; he was “cheered to the rooftops.”

S: Bevan by Clare Beckett and Francis Beckett (Haus Publishing, 2004).

Seems to me there must be lots of amusing examples of people slightly overstating their case.
