There was me thinking that people would be able to distinguish between those who made a theory, and those who tested it...

One of the earliest recorded instances of ball lightning was at Widecombe in the Moor Church in 1638. This was put down to a man who had made a pact with the devil falling asleep in church. (obviously, I can't think of any other reason for ball lightning to strike! ;-) )

Why do you think that adopting the certain-aircrash-death posture will make any difference? I know that's what they suggest, but it seems pretty futile to me.

Off topic, but I was once told, by someone who worked in the industry, that the "aircrash posture" has nothing to do with increasing your chances of surviving the crash. It's to help protect your teeth so that your corpse can be identified from dental records. Cheering thought!

Not a climber but could be encouraged to grow on a wall. Marsh Samphire is a small, low-growing, plant of salt-marsh. Tricky to grow at home I would suspect.

Golden samphire Inula crithmoides is also a marsh plant so rock samphire must be the one.
