Ok, I just had to add this.

While sitting in the parking lot of a local convenience store, I noticed a sign that said

"99% Fat Free Eggnog"

Now that is just unnatural. Once you add alcohol though, that becomes an entirely different story.

On the subject of alcohol:

Q.What is the name of the alcohol of the highest proof?

A. Everclear, maxing in at a hefty 190 proof.

I'm more than welcome to anyone who can find higher...

Surely pure ethanol has the highest proof of any liquid (you could try drinking it, but the chemical burns/high chance of explosions, might have a chance of killing you first).

Given that Pure Ethanol is 175 degrees proof one wonders what 190 proof actually means.

Oh hang on I see. It's the americans getting things wrong again.

why the world can't get on standard system is beyond me. We Americans seem to be completely independent of the world, and then expect help from them....Different spellings, different proofs, different temperature, different measurement... 'Tis truly difficult to figure this out....

And would pure ethanol be 200 proof in Backwards Land? I believe it would seeing as it has 100% abv and doubling 100 results in 200.

To paraphrase the wonderfully funny Rob Newman - that's right, all the other countries have now grouped together into The Rest of The World. We even have a flag - it's the same as the US one, just on fire.

Everclear...........wow!

Very impressed! Thought I'd tried the best with a bottle of Poteen with a cheeky 90% ABV........(very helpfully inscribed on the side with the words "Do not consume undiluted; -danger of death")

I now have a new quest!!

I seem to remember reading the Russian 'proofing' is set so that any %age numbers over there are equal to higher ratings over here. 40% proof vodka in Russia is remarkably dangerous stuff!
