I can't help thinking that the mistake was in allowing Nina to "advertise" her Gran character to such a degree, someone should have clamped down on that. There were a couple of odd moments when she contributed to the show without Gran because she was swept up in the moment, and then it wasn't too bad, but they were very fleeting.

Just rewatched that episode last night, it was noticeable that Fry's interactions with Nina+grandma became less comfortable as the show wore on, largely I think as it was dawning on everyone that it wasn't working.

I don't doubt that Gyles is highly intelligent and well read, it's just that he goes on and on. His off switch appears to be non functional!

I assume that you've never seen an episode with Sandi, then.

Sandi Toksvig is brilliant. :-)

I can honestly say that there are no guests I would not want to see back. Even those who had a bit of a dodgy debut should get another chance if offered. Not every 'regular' guest is great every time they appear.

Not just Sandi. Plenty of the female guests make me laugh. Maybe not all the time, but then neither do the men.

Linda Smith was a hoot, Emma Thompson was good value, Sue Perkins, etc etc. I know it has become fashionable to criticise Jo Brand, but I still find her gigglesome. I don't think all female guests have been in my 'funny Top Ten', but I'd certainly include some of them.

Just listened to an edition of the News Quiz where she had to beg Jeremy Hardy to stop a diatribe about schoolchildren and their parents, as she was almost helpless with laughter.

Hardy hasn't been on since Series B. I'd like to see him return. I just saw him do his stand-up act last week and it was good.

Actually, Toksvig and Fry are getting closer together. She's just joined Fry's production company.

Not sure I'd invite her back though.

Kinda difficult now, I think she is fully booked elsewhere.
