What's the best way of relieving a jellyfish sting?

I would say pee on it, but research shows that the best rememdy is to pour hot water on it.

"It" being the sting, not the jellyfish, though that might help too.

Vengence is a dish best served cold.

So that'll be hot water for the sting and the jellyfish is going in a bucket in the freezer.

When I was beachcombing in North Queensland where the jelly fish known as 'stingers' can be lethal and are more feared than sharks, the common remedy, to be applied immediately, was petrol or paraffin.
The reason they were so feared was because, due to the length of the tentacles, you got stung before ever knowing the fish was there. Also the railed enclosures on the seashore which kept out sharks were no barrier to trailing jellyfish tentacles.
