Oriental bazaars. There doesn't seem to be a word that rhymes accurately with buzzers.

Well, I think Stephen was right when he said he wouldn't cut it as a Cockney...

I thought a J Arthur was a shower (J Arthur Bowers potting compost) but it turns out to be something that rhymes with J Arthur Rank.

I'm going to throw the possiblity of 'bank' out there considering that it rhymes with Rank, but I'm positive I will be corrected.

Captain - think further along the alphabet. And no, it's not sank. Or tank.

Because of where she lives Jenny is constantly trying to shoe-horn the word "Yank" into the conversation.

I think he may have been being rude...

No Jodrell refers to "Jodrell Bank" = Bank

Jodrell Bank = J. Arthur Rank = merchant bank = wank

I thought that was a “Barclays”? In any case “doing a Barclays” was the expression Kenneth Williams used – according to a programme on Kenneth Williams I saw some years ago.

In fact: http://www.antimoon.com/forum/t10618-15.htm.

Cokkernee rhyming slang is constantly evolving so Barclays would probably have entered into usage at some point.

Rory definitely meant bank though, because he goes on regarding the 'snobbery' being planned "Which 'jodrell' are we going to 'snob'? Barclays, Lewisham High Street."

Unless of course you think this was a discussion about planning a bout of public masturbation! Though I'm not quite sure what 'snob' would be rhyming slang for...

I master’s, Cock & Bull definitely advice “bank” on the long.

master’s = master’s degree = agree
Cock & Bull = Cock & Bull Story = Rory
advice = advice and consent = meant
long = long ago = show

Can someone translate what Stephen is saying at the beginning of that episode?

He starts with "Without further teaful (?), let's have a butcher's (Butcher's hook, look) at our four bulletproofs (bulletproof vests, guests)"

"We're all three stops down from plaster but never mind, let's Georgie their orientals"

I think "Ursula Andress me Jensen" and "Eartha my dingly" mean "Press me button" and "Hit my song".

And Rory, when he talks about deceiving very thick policemen, he says a "jodroll" or "jodrule"? I can't tell what it is!

Oh, and "It's hi-de-hi and baked potato from QI"?

Jodrel is a reference to the U.K. space installation at Jodrel Bank It's not rhyming slang because Bank doesn't rhyme with bank, it's the same word.

Three stops down from Plaistow is the rail station called "Barking: Barking refers to barking mad.

Next to the episode Jargon this is my favorite but not for Rory who I consider insufferable.
