Personally I always liked cat aerobics:

"Stand up, stretch, turn round, lie down again"

I want to be a cat :-)

Hi Tas,

one quote slightly wrong;
'dogs believe they are human; cats KNOW they are god'

have you read Terry Pratchetts book on cats?? I think you would love it ;)

Of course the wonderful thing about a cat is that, if one could see the next few seconds of video from youtube, in each case the cat would be seen washing furiously and giving the human a withering glance that said, "You did NOTsee me do something dumb/undignified"

Sorry if this has been posted before though I couldn't find it, does anyone know why cats can't see their reflections? And is it true of other animals? I think there was something in the news recently about tests on elephants but I missed it (other than Paul Merton etc. slagging it off on Have I Got News for You?)
Anyone?

Cats can see their reflections.

Mine can't. If you put them in front of a mirror or hold them up by one they treat it as though it's just a blank wall. However if a cat walks past the window they rush towards it and paw the glass.

I've Googled this and found plenty of references to the fact that they can't see their reflection but no explanations.

That doesn't mean they can't see their reflections. It just means they find it unimportant and therfore ignore it. Here are a couple links:

Fantastic, thank you.

So they really are the wise ones and they're just letting us live here.

Even when they were kittens? All mine, as kittens, reacted to their reflection as if it were another cat. They all learned quite quickly, though, that it was their reflection, and after that ignored it.
