Or do you mean "What have the Sloths ever done for us?"

Sorry, but I couldn't let that one go...

The most boring animal on the planet is humankind.

I'm serious... A factoid becomes less interesting the more times you hear it. It becomes less interesting when the people you wish to entertain with your knowledge are more likey to already know your little tidbits of info. I'm sure all animals have certain facts associated with them but the less everybody knows about them make those animals more interesting.

Humankind, narcisitic as we are tend to know all the otherwise interesting facts about themselves and so are the least interesting.

I defy anyone to find anything in the world - animal or not - that is not really quite interesting somewhere along the line.

It can't be done - I'm positive. It's all good (although it might not be very funny...)

Maybe then we should re title the thread as "The Least Amusing Animal on the Planet". . . . But then I would have to include my neighbour. He is to jokes what Domestos is to germs. . . .Kills them dead.

Where does the dog live the rest of the time?

Or was that the curious incident?

Given the fact this post it supposed to be about the most boring animal, it's the second most popular thread on the QI Animals forum!

Boringness is very interesting because it's so rare.

BORING - EXCITING. You choose.

The wood worm is a paradox as it both bores and terrifies at the same time.

Jonathan Swift

The next is an insect we call a wood-worm,
That lies in old wood like a hare in her form;
With teeth or with claws it will bite or will scratch,
And chambermaids christen this worm a death-watch;
Because like a watch it always cries click;
Then woe be to those in the house who are sick:
For, as sure as a gun, they will give up the ghost,
If the maggot cries click when it scratches the post.

How about the hamster?

I know we kind of gave up on the whole boring-animal thing, but I mean think about it. There's no interesting penis-length or retractable poisonous tongue... It's just a rodent, a child's pet. What do you think?

Hamster's Store Food in their cheeks - thats a bit interesting.
Their teeth grow continuously throughout their life and must be worn down by gnawing to prevent over growth.

The Hamsters is the Name of a Blues/Rock band from my hometown of Southend who I used to watch play at the Esplanade. That's less interesting but I liked 'em.
