That's three forums which I use that had major outages yesterday (the eve of the US election).

I think I need to get my tinfoil hat back from the cleaners...

Strange coincidence, innit?

Of course, I have my every day tinfoil hat, as well as the Sunday best.

Yes, Awitt reported it on the Book of Faces and I saw it 5-6 hours later where it was still happening. And someone else too (I forget who it was).

I saw it as well, but wasn't too worried as I assumed it was possibly part of a huge outage for Google and other sites.

Actually it's a message that gets put up when people the forum are fed up with try to log in.

I've seen it hundreds of times (several times a day)...

There is always the Pliny Is My Homeboy page on Facebook, for those of you who can bear to be there.

Several others from the UK as you woke up and tried to log in, I presume, and/or saw my post first.

I didn't take note of my local time when it first happened, but it was the middle of the day here - it was fine all morning, then went down around lunchtime.

I've just heard on a midday news service that G---le services crashed overnight, affecting Docs, email etc. Related to this outage at all?

Apologies, I didn't log on to these forums yesterday, though I was busy dealing with the outage. It turns out to have been the hosting company being a bit too zealous about security and thinking that this wasn't a valid site because the main QI site is hosted elsewhere.

I've assured them that, whilst this site isn't as busy as it used to be, it is still being used. Hopefully they won't do that again :-S

Given that the research threads (invisible to most posters) are hosted on this site, and that the bulk of the research for the S series has now been done, they would have noticed a drop off in posting, I guess.

Also it's that time of year - Covid or not - where people stop checking certain things because they're getting ready for Christmas prep. and/or going away/are away.

There aren't many registered users in Aus, but there may be some lurkers who haven't posted as yet.

Another outage has just ended - this time it came up as a 403 Error.

That's three in six weeks.

I think we would be entitled to ask the Management to ask the hosting company what's going on, and what they're going to do about it.

I demand a refund!
