Well, this morning was overcast and sunny.

Suddenly at 2.30 pm, the sky got greyer, heavy rain and hail began.

A BBC report last evening mentioned Maine being in the path of Hurricane Henri.
I hope our forummists in that state are not badly affected by it (him?)
Y'know, thoughts and prayers...

This link should work (if not, just Google 'Hurricane Henri' ) and shows the main path of it

Sunny and 24 C yesterday. Warmish evening and night, so much so that I got up at 8am, unable to sleep any further.

A predicted change brought a cooler change with the rain setting in this afternoon. Three hours later and it's still pouring down.

I have awoken this afternoon to 20 or so degrees and sunshine. And this is set to continue all over the weekend and into next week. Hurrah!

I just looked up the phrase 'Indian Summer'. I has always assumes it was a hangover form the British Raj in the sub-continent
But possibly not so

In German that is known as the Old Women's Summer (etymology wobbly and unclear). Whatever you call it, life would be much poorer without its golden light.

Luckily both Henri and Ida passed over us with no more than rain.

Hurrah!
Friends in Noo Joizy are pumping their basement, but did not lose power, unlike other parts of their town.

The weather program last night stated just under 20 mm had fallen in some parts of Melbourne. (don't know where they get their info from)

My rain gauge shows up to 40 mm.

On FB I saw photos of potential flooding in a rural area, where the property backs onto a river.

Severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch. 60mph winds and penny sized hail forecast.

Starting to look grey here but no actual rain and high winds yet.

We had thunder for nearly an hour, lots of crashing and flashing. Very dark skies and rain as heavy or heavier than anything I've seen in the US, a fair amount of wind blowing around but not anything approaching the 60mph suggested by the weather service. No trees down locally that I've heard about and our power only flickered a couple of times. It is still stiflingly humid some 12 hours later.

Our thunderstorm was pretty short, but there was a fair amount of heavy rain later. The wind didn't seem as high as predicted, and no trees are down that I have seen or heard about.

Reasonable day, original forecast predicted some rain by afternoon - didn't really happen in my area, cloud overhead, though it rained in the country town east of the state so the 3pm live video walk didn't occur.

Now at 10.40 pm, the wind is strong and the rain has started.

Four seasons in a day today.

Alternating sunny periods, then light fluffy clouds, then dark clouds come over, heavy rain and some hail, then it all goes.
