I don't know about prison, but I know he has been denied access to the girl.

It better be prison, too. For a very long time.

In other news, the lamentable fact that stock can go down as well as up is not good for my mental health...

In my experience stock only goes down if you leave it simmering on the stove (or if the pan has a hole in it).

Back in post 1385300, I mentioned the propensity of some gel cling skulls on my window to melt in the heat of the sun. The process does not see to be abating, despite the cooler weather;

Yup, and at that particular point I was fearing I had left it on the stove for too long. It's going back up now though, so all good.

I dunno, Crissdee, that skull looks spookier now! If less skull-like.

In utter triviality, the good husband today encountered an egg-free Scotch egg.

Easy to say after the event but he reckons that it seemed a little small when he took it out of the fridge, and he soon discovered that the sphere of sausage meat was hollow.

How can that even happen? And does it still constitute a substantial meal?

As did I some little while ago;

I always thought the meat was formed around the egg, so they couldn't be hollow. That must be wrong.

Hand made ones yes, machine made one who knows but the lack of egg in the above picture would suggest not.

There was some little discussion about it when I originally posted that picture, which was back when I still lived in Redbridge, so I can't find it right now.

Not sure whether this will be viewable to all, but here's one depiction of a scotch egg factory:
https://www.facebook.com/bbctwo/videos/1653116561464172/

For those that can't play the video, it appears to show pre-cooked eggs dropped or pressed into a tube of sausage paste then extruded onto a conveyor individually for battering, breadcrumbing and frying.

Not clear at all how that process could result in a hollow egg.

Crisdee's example seems to have remnants of holes at the top and bottom, though which an unset egg could conceivably have been blown (perhaps under pressure of an air pocket during frying), yet it must still have been solid enough to support the case being formed around it in the first place, if it was the result of a factory such as that shown in the video. All very puzzling.

I seem to remember the idea that the sausage meat was formed into hemispheres and pressed around a boiled egg. If you look carefully at my picture, there does appear to be a seam running round the meat. If an egg failed to drop into position as the two halves were brought together, the result would be as shown.

Today the good husband is proving that he is a man. No, not like that - well, not right now, anyway.

He's done something to his left hand. Whether he's broken a small bone or (and more likely to me) injured a tendon I don't know, but every time he lifts anything with his left hand, or turns off the rather stiff kitchen hot tap with his left hand, there is a grimace and a rude word.

But does he consider this a matter over which he should consult a doctor? Does he heck as like, as his father would have said.

He should at least strap it up for support while it heals.

If he went to A&E, that's as much as they could do for it anyway, apart from providing better pain relief than you're likely to have at home.
