Library colleague and family who have to isolate for two weeks have experienced the first of supermarket online shopping misunderstandings :

Ordered: two brown onions.
Received: Two 1 kg string bags of onions.

It has been pointed out elsewhere that Ms Raducanu's achievement should prove to Prince Andrew that no Brit should have any fear for American courts....

Virginia Wade, she was a physics and maths graduate, I always liked her as she was an atypical sports celebrity at that time, and for me to like any tennis player is noteworthy as I can't stand the sport.

Yes, the one that makes me glad that our country has accepted people from all over the world and assimilated them. With names like Farage, François, Portillo, Farah, Hecht and Kershion*, Patel, and so on.
How much longer this will be the case, I know not, and it will be a sad day when that happens.

* I had to google Michael Howard to find his parents' surnames.

I doubt very much whether you and I will be around to see that day.

From Bickley in the London Borough of Bromley, a couple of friends of ours are extremely sure!

Those friends just happen to live in Bickley in the London Borough of Bromley. Their son was a year below Ms Raducanu at junior school - and doesn't remember ever actually speaking to her!

So do I, although it will only happen if it is allowed to, all we can do is educate people properly.

At least onions last awhile and can be used for a variety of things. A FB friend suggested French Onion soup, (that's if they then don't need to get other things for it)

You can use up a remarkably large number of onions if you caramelise them and use them in an onion quiche.

That has been another suggestion from friends. Library colleague does most of the cooking so may have to become creative.
