I was interested to learn of the health benefits of chronic lateness, and the correlation between this trait and better physical and mental health and life expectancy.

Recalling recent experiences of fuming at the nameless colleague who had left me listening to pre-teleconference hold music for fifteen minutes yet again, I couldn't help wondering if late people really have improved health outcomes, or whether this is just relative to those of the people waiting for them.

I shall certainly have my suspicions is the effect turns out to be particularly pronounced among, say, firefighters ...

I suspect that the health benefits don't come from the actual late arrival but from the absence of anxiety as to whether one arrives on time or not.

Yes, that was reason stated, and I wasn't being entirely serious. It did strike me that the anxiety is frequently not merely absent, but transferred to other people, though.
