Was it a brilliant tribute or poor timing for the Indian moonshot, Chandrayaan 2 to launch two days after the fiftieth anniversary of the first Moon landing? I like to see it as a tribute, but the anniversary and political events completely overshadowed it.

It is a brilliant challenge by the Indian Space Agency (whose logo incidentally looks suspiciously like NASA's and both resemble Star Trek's Starfleet badge).

The route to the moon is not straight-there-and-back like the Apollo missions. It is unmanned so flight time is less important- they are using the same technique as the Beresheet mission (though I hopes they have better landing sensors).
