The nominations for this oddest book title of the year have been announced and voting is now open to the public. This year's nominations for the Diagram Prize are:
Are Gay Men More Accurate in Detecting Deceits?
Hoe-Chi Angel Au
Open Dissertation Press
Call of Nature: The Secret Life of Dung
Equine Dry Needling
Cornelia Klarholz and Andrea Schachinger
Jesus on Gardening
Onwards and Upwards
Joy of Waterboiling
Why Sell Tacos in Africa?
Blue Ocean Marketing
You can vote for the best title here, with the winner announced on 23rd November. Normally, the person who originally put forward the nomination of the winning title gets a bottle of claret, but as all the nominations this year came from staff at The Bookseller which organises the awards, this year the claret will go to a random voter who votes for the winning title.
Well I have to say that those titles are all rather disappointing compared with some of the previous winners. What is there to match last year's winner, The Commuter Pig Keeper: A Comprehensive Guide to Keeping Pigs when Time is your Most Precious Commodity? Or The 2009–2014 World Outlook for 60-milligram Containers of Fromage Frais (a controversial winner because it was written by a computer program)?
