I got a similar reply this afternoon.

Thank you very much for getting in touch. It's great to hear from you.

I'm a massive fan of QI and can't wait for it to return. I'm delighted to learn you are also an avid watcher.

With regard to your question on QI XL then, I am pleased to confirm that the programme will return to BBC2 in October this year. You can keep an eye on the programme page for further updates:

I hope the above is good news and eases your fears that QI XL had been cancelled.

Thanks again for getting in touch.

Kind Regards,

(etc. etc. - I've deliberately left the chap's name out)

Well, for what it's worth, I have checked the new Radio Times, and there is no XL on between Mon and Fri

Any thoughts on the new credits?

Personally I liked the new images, but I was slightly put off by the flying magnifying glass which looks quite poorly rendered.

It's almost like the P series has been smuggled in unannounced - the October 6th date for the XL version is much the same as previous years as it is a Saturday but the Monday night slot caught me unawares (for the time being at least it is on You Tube in its entirety btw).

Of course, assuming the 16 show run is uninterrupted, the last P episode will air on Christmas Eve.

Maybe it's my OCD but I prefer a TV season to end around then rather than get lost in the Christmas / New Year schedules, not to mention the new stuff that appears in January.

Not that it helps the XL episodes, but then they always get fiddled about with by the BBC.

One can only hope that it's been delayed a week.

Were I a betting man I'd put a (small) wager on the first P-XL transmission taking place on Saturday 13th October at 22:00, where Digiguide currently has a 'to be announced' placeholder.

Looks like the series is being postponed in November. On 5th November it is not on because there are showing a drama called "Doing Money". The week after that it is showing "People Just Do Nothing".

QI XL will still be on, so that has a chance to catch up with the rest of the series.

Does anyone know why they keep messing around with the schedule like that?

It's either just to annoy us, or because BBC schedulers are massively incompetent ;-)
