Quarantine for "sexually promiscuous woman"

Spanning through the first and second World Wars, American police and health officials were able to arrest women who they suspected of carring an STI and force them to undergo medical examinations in an attempt to keep American troops safe from a large scale gonorrhoea and syphilis outbreak.

If these women were found to be sick (or healthy but judged as overly promiscuous) it was possible that they would be detained until they were considered cured or reformed.

To add insult to injury, women of colour were disproportionately discriminated against and were subject to sub-par facilities, violence and some were sterilised against there will, or without being informed.
