Without the Haitian Revolution and its success, America would be a short strip of land, this is why:

Napoleon's Atlantic expansion ideals where hinged on the control of Haiti, the loss of Haiti with independence in 1805 meant that Napoleon transatlantic expansionist ideals were stopped, and therefore enabling him to enact the Louisiana purchase which created America as we know it. If Napoleon had regained control of Haiti the evidence suggests that America would not be the America we know now.

That is indeed interesting - thank you. How do you know Napoleon wanted to expand his empire across the Atlantic?
