I’ve just been checking the BBC Two listings, and the XL version of the episode “Occupations and Offices” doesn’t seem to be on tonight – or any of the next few nights.

I know the shorter, half-hour version was on yesterday (Friday). Does anyone know when the XL one will be aired?

I think it may have been axed due to the Beeb's coverage of people parking about on snow and ice.

That’s a shame. (No disrespect to people who love programmes on parking about on snow and ice.)

'parking about'? Haven't heard that expression before.

I'm sure the parkers didn't help, but it was mainly about running Young Victoria as part of a themed night on 2. We're assured that the missing ep will be transmitted as a standalone at the end of the run.

Thanks, Flash. I'm sure several of us have an eye on the listings so we can let everyone know when it appears.

Yes, I think my speelchucker thought lark is the same as park.

The BBC's annual ritual of mucking about with QI/QI XL scheduling is growing increasingly tiresome.

A question.
Is there material in the half hour version that does not get aired in the XL version?

I don't believe so. I think the XL is the half-hour version plus extras.

Certainly seemed so to me when I have watched both.

Still interesting question. If there's an overabundance of material for the XL version, wouldn't they ditch some of the with hindsight less fetching stuff from the half hour version?

One would hope that the 1/2 hour version contained the best 30 minutes, and that the extra 15 minutes was the next best 1/4 of an hour.

I realise it's not that simple, but it would seem to be a sound framework to work around.
