We were taught at school that Shakespeare was baptised on the 26th April, but the date of his birth is not recorded.

He would have been baptised quite soon after his birth, because if he died first his soul couldn't go to heaven, so everyone thought it would be Romantic if he'd died on his birthday. And he's Englands greatest playwright, so it's even more Romantic if he was born on St George's Day.

In a previous series this could well have been a Nobody Knows question.

But to claim that his last writings were something that a spirit medium produced? Come on, guys, let's have some rigour and rationality here

If you want to talk about academic rigour, I would very much like to see your conclusive evidence that it wasn't Shakespeare's spirit coming through.

A fair point, crissdee.

Particularly since I have been in contact with the ghost of Julius Caesar only this morning and will soon be publishing his autobiography, to be called 'How I faked my assassination and stitched up that bastard Brutus'.

And before you ask, I learned Latin at school but I didn't need it because Caesar speaks fluent English, with a faint Italian accent.
