Moon lasers

There is an observatory in New Mexico that fires lasers at the moon.

The Apache Point Observatory Lunar Laser-ranging Operation (APOLLO) is designed to measure the relative acceleration of the Earth and moon.

But you canít help wondering if they came up with the acronym first...
