The most widely known blood type qualification is the ABO system. In some european countries this instead of type O they know it as type zero, as it does not contain antigens of their A or B (it has zero antigens). However it is still written as type 0 not type zero. Therefore when other countries started using this ABO classification system, it was known as type O instead of zero. Therefore type O blood was a typo.
