The cloud

The cloud (as in internet services/storage) is definitely almost entirely on land, in the form of server farms, even if much of the world's connections to them is under water.

Without the connections betwen the storage, the cloud is essentially useless. So it's arguable that you should include all the cabling and connections as part of "the cloud".

Which is why the cloud is of no use to me, I don't have the connectivity to make it useable. I could buy a memory stick or hard-drive cheaper than the cost of the bandwidth to upload a few GB into the cloud.

There's no such thing as "the cloud", it's just other people's computers.

I use the Xbox "cloud" save-game facility, but I'd never use other people's computers to store anything I'd be upset about losing.
