Juliet is only 13 in Romeo and Juliet.

SOURCE:
Romeo And Juliet
Act 1 Scene 3 Line 14

(I did a search for this in the forums and nothing came up but it's a quite well known fact so I don't know if I just missed it)

Shakespeare wrote:
(Romeo takes the poison.)
Romeo: O true apothecary,
Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die.
And with this kiss I flee the grasping hands
That men do call Operation Yewtree.

I don't understand - if it's a well-known fact, why mention it?

So that none of us make the same mistake as Romeo and sleep with the underage Juliet. :)

Sorry just remembered that this is an international board, so my "Shakespeare rewritten" quote won't make sense outside the UK.
Operation Yewtree is the British police's offensive against child sex criminals.

She wasn't underage at the time, and she's well past it by now, so we're probably safe.

And, perhaps saliently, entirely madey-uppy!

Shakespeare tended to adapt the stories of real people, so it would not surprise me to find that there really was a Juliet (even if history does not record her).

I just hope the FBI (US national police) doesn't get wind of this. We're going through a severe anti-pedo phase at the moment (much like our anti-terrorist phase), so they'd likely shutdown every performance of the play and arrest anybody who's ever performed, watched it, or even possessed a copy of it.

They won't have to look far from home, if this report is true - have to include that caveat these days :(

Why does the US have so many child brides?
