China which is already in dispute with other countries has disputes to resolve with India.

Chinese claims to Arunachal Pradesh have been labelled arrogant in the Indian press. Chinese control of Tibet since 1950 and their annexation of Aksai Chin in 1962, which they blame the British for, has been raised over fears of what some commentators regard as an aggressive Chinese stance in SE Asia.

Its also worth noting that the Indian national flag is only real if it is made of hand woven cotton/wool/silk. In the same way that an USA flag isn't a real flag if it doesn't have all 50 stars, all synthetic Indian flags aren't real flags.

Also in stark contrast to the Union Jack it is illegal to "us(e) the Indian National Flag as a portion of costume or uniform of any description or
embroidering or printing it on cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins or any dress material". Doing so can carry a 3 year sentence or a fine!

A mere hill side compared to the world's highest football ground, which we covered at post 262382.

Still very high though, and I wouldn't fancy going to look for the ball when someone hits it into the trees!

It's been used for a couple of international games and was the occasional home ground of one of the IPL teams - I seem to think it was the team that played in red and silver that Adam Gichrest captained. Not sure I'd want to be fielding at that altitude of Chris Gayle is having a good day. Equally, I don't think I'd want to be batting if Dale Steyn got out the wrong side of bed.

Bombay (or Mumbai)(hey! I live there) has an estimated rat population of about 88 million (eewww! I live there). What's interesting is that the human population of Bombay is around 12.5 million (2011), that's just about eight rats per person. What's more interesting is that the NRK (Night Rat Killers) service that represents the city's "war on rats" is just about 30-40 members strong. That's about 2.2 million to one.

(Yes, I was almost attacked by a rat and I'm pretty annoyed)

In India, it is common for people to prefix their name with the honorific Er. to highlight engineering graduates (much like Dr.). This is commonly used as a bargaining chip in the legal human trade referred to as "arranged marriage".

There is a river in Leh which freezes in winter and trekkers usually trek on the frozen river. The river is known as Zanskar River and the trek is known as Chadar Trek, where chadar is Hindi term for showl. Here trekkers get to stay in a natural cave.

This is hovering on the edge of spam. I'm leaving it here because it's interesting but please - no more links to Himalayan treks.

Major Dhyan Chand was offered German citizenship by Hitler after the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where India beat Germany 8-1 at field hockey on their way to another gold medal. Dhyan Chand however declined citizenship and a commission in the German military with the chance to play in the German national hockey team.
