Offences

Two criminal offences I spotted reported in my local paper The Gazette today, one of which was the front page story.

The front page piece is a report on an armed raid on a petrol station in Guisborough. The masked robbers held staff at knifepoint, stealing nearly 900 and a bottle of whisky. However, what they really should have stole was petrol - because their getaway car ran out and they had to call a taxi. All four of the people involved in the crime have confessed to committing it.

The second story concerned last weekend's football match between Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace, which Palace won 1-0. Unconfirmed reports say that some Palace fans vandalised a bus that they thought was the Boro team bus. However, the Boro team actually flew to the game and the bus in question had been provided for them by Palace. Thus it is speculated that Crystal Palace fans have caused 40,000 worth of damage because they vandalised their own bus.

Sportspeople will fail a drugs test for opiates if they eat rolls with poppy seeds on them.

Didn't Brainiac did a test showing that eating two poppy seed bagels was enough.

Thanks for that link, Bondee. I now also know that you can polish turds (not an offence, but once you start watching MythBusters....)

Indeed you can, simply by adding "-upon-Thames" to the name of a town.
: )

A young woman from my neighbourhood in Germany failed a drugs test for joining the German police force after eating poppy seed cake with her coffee the preceding weekend.

*LOL* In fairness, German drugs legislation has become fairly relaxed over the past 20 or so years, too, especially in my neck of the woods. Her mom, who had baked the cake, vouched that it was to blame for the fail and she was given another appointment for the test.

:-)
