Threads not showing as read?

Don't know if it's just me - some threads aren't changing to 'read' after I read them and are staying orange.

Not really a problem, just a bit annoying because I keep thinking there's been a new post!

I get that sometimes, thought it was a result of my weak internettage.

It's something to do with cookies, but more specific than that I cannot be.

A quick and dirty solution to the issue is to log out and then back in again. That will clear all the orange blobs, and any which still appear [i]really do[i] denote new posts.

Unlikely to be the case for me as I am ethernetted into a university campus network :)

My pleasure, but can you tell that I've been around these forums for far too long?

Which I rather gave away by screwing up and writing [i]really do[i]. Yes, I quite often type the BBCode tags instead of using the conveniently placed buttons ...

For me it's also browser-dependent. The one which does best at clearing posts is Safari on my iPad, but even with that from time to time I find myself in the same thread twice.

It sometimes happens to me too. Refreshing the page (CTRL+R or F5) sorts it.
