In the absence of being able to go to bookshops, charity shops and indeed funds to buy said items, I was somewhat pleased today to find next to a charity bin in a local carpark, that someone had left a box or two of nice hardbound reprinted classics books (titles like Black Beauty, Huck Finn, wind in the willows etc)

Glad I took the neighbour's books back to the library this afternoon - directly opposite this carpark, and that I had her carry bag as well as my own, which enabled me to pick up about ten books.

I don't know if these charity bins are emptied during lockdown, but rain is due tomorrow afternoon and the books would get ruined otherwise.

Woodsman and I have managed to book ourselves in for a booster covid shot tomorrow morning! It's at our local CVS pharmacy, so conveniently close. I was hoping to get one before I come to the UK but didn't realise I could do it so quickly.

I had a call today from the house clearance/removal people I have done some work for, confirming arrangements for tomorrow's work, and offering further work on Wednesday and Thursday. In addition, the builder working on my friend's roof has indicated that he will be in need of my assistance on a semi-regular basis for the next couple of weeks at least, so my immediate future is at least secure.

I fixed my computer chair.

Not much of a fix really as all that was necessary was rotating one of the armrests until it tightened up and stopped wobbling. The remaining question is what am I doing that would cause it to unscrew like that in the first place?

Anyway I know how to fix it now so hurrah!

Yesterday I had a delivery from one of my medical professionals of three bags of cat litter and two bags of potting mix for the garden.

Then I sell a few succulents, only $10 but better than nothing.

Then my bus driver friend comes by with another bag of potting mix - the local supermarket had a delivery of two large pallets of it.

So the cat is all set for the next little while and I now have 85 litres of potting mix (despite being like a soil it is measured in litres)

Isn't soil usually sold by volume rather than by weight? Conversely, sand is usually sold by weight.

I'm sure it makes sense to someone.

I think it's done that way (can refer to my garden course notes later) as you put water in it after planting and it's like the equivalent value or something.

I am getting a new (to me) car! (18 reg, only 17,000 miles)
Last week I had driven a couple at a nearby dealership, with whom we have had previous savings. Today I went back with my Better Half, and we ended up looking at a third one, on which I have paid a deposit.
Current car is a Ford Focus
Previous was the same.
And previous to that was a Focus.
No prizes for guessing what I am now getting. But back to petrol, and an EcoBoost model , ST range, so quite a bit of grunt. Fun to drive!
Pick up on monday week.

Quite possible, assuming that go-juice becomes readily available again.

My happy news is that my intestinal issues appear to be waning. I feel a lot better than I have since Tuesday. The corollary is that it has cost me virtually all the weight I have struggled to put back on. Now under 10 stone again ;-(
