The menu included prawn brains.

The chef's serving suggestion of squeezing the prawn's head to release the liquefied brains (a revolting brown goo) over the rest of the prawn was just plain disgusting. I think I might have retched. That sort of cheffing seems to me to be taking the piss out of pretentious wankers. I can almost imagine him sniggering as he came up with the idea. Talk about the Emperor's new clothes.

So the restaurant industry has now embraced ironic pretentious wankage?

My work is complete ...

I think they do something similar with lobsters in Maine, nasty gooey stuff they suck out of it called Tomalley, apparently the liver and pancreas... bleurgh.

BC 4: Handmade on the Silk Route (1/3)

Fascinating/mesmerising documentary about the whole process of designing, dyeing, weaving, etc in China. Handmade techniques and mechanised looms. The colours are glorious. Just the sound of the machine/tools, human voices. No music.
Utter bliss.

Not quite sure where to put this, but I saw it on the telly, so here will do:

Dozens of Tory MPs face accusations that they illegally overspent in the 2015 general election campaign by failing to declare costs associated with the Conservative campaign “battle buses”. If the allegations are true, the MPs and their agents could face a year in jail and/or an unlimited fine, as well as a three-year ban on holding elective office.

There are as far as we know, at least 26 MPs implicated. This could trigger by-elections across the country which would mean the Conservatives losing their majority in parliament.

But, beyond Channel 4, which has exposed the revelations, the broadcast media has been largely silent on the scandal.

Andrew Neil finally broke the BBC silence by giving Grant Shapps a bit of questioning.

The BBC's election coverage is hilariously dramatic. I especially like their music.

Nicely put, Jivvi. Not the words I'd have used, but definitely the sentiment. Forsooth and 'swounds, I adore Shakespeare.

Busy catching up on Masterchef.
Still have quite a few to go but its not bad as something to have on in the background. Before today I never would have put the words John Torrode and attractive in the same sentence. But. There was something about him on the boat episode. Maybe because he was actually doing cheffy type stuff to help out the contestants and being all commanding and Chef like.
