The dirndl yoga vid is hilarious! Julie Andrews never looked like that.

They have also advised caution regarding new specs. They suggest three months or so to let my vision settle and work from there. If it means I don't have to spend 200 from my dwindling finances, so much the better!

Dirndl yoga combines two of my favourite things. Not so sure about the bit where they pretend to eat grass though.

Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the release of Black Sabbath's self-titled first album.

Consensus opinion means that makes Heavy Metal 50 years of age.

Who Really Invented Heavy Metal?

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath Full Album

Check out High Tide, Blue Cheer etc if you want but it doesn't sound much like metal to me.

Sir Lord Baltimore's Kingdom Come wasn't released until December 1970.

Mountain - Climbing! Full Album came out on March 7 1970 but is surely worth a mention.

Rockers Bid Farewell and Thank You to Black Sabbath

Have you had an actual diabetes diagnosis then, crissdee?

I have now. It may well have been caused by the cocktail of drugs I am obliged to take, rather than any lifestyle choices I have made, but the big "D" it is. The doc also counselled against investing in new glasses for a month or two.

Good news is that my kidney function is still AOK, and they want me to stop one of my blood pressure tablets as I now have slightly low BP.

Well better to know than not to. At least you now have a plan to follow!

And I've just discovered that a glass of Uncle Jack's finest now and then is not incompatible with a heallthy diet, so it won't be too bad!

Bizarrely, although my blood sugar usually drops between last thing at night and first thing in the morning (as you would expect) the night before last it actually rose overnight. Have I been sleep-eating?????

Also, yesterday I learned why Subway's "Toasted bites" are so cheap.

They're f*cking tiny! Perhaps a little over 2 inches square. Lesson learned, won't be getting them again.

That WinAmps signature "Whip the Llama's Ass" is not some random thing but was actually derived from a Wesley Willis recording called Whip the Llama's ass. The Winamp rendition is a lot more musical.

After seeing the word referenced in a book of Germany's best gardens - most of them being the former emperors estates and palaces all around the country - I have learnt what an oenologist does.

That's normal - your body actually manufactures glucose in the last couple of hours of sleep.

Well, you learn something new every day! Fortunately, my readings are staying pretty much where they should be, or at least at a level the medics are happy with. They have advised dropping one of my old meds if I have any more hypos which (so far) I haven't, but it's nice to have an escape plan ready.

TIL that the average number of working skeletons in the world is more than one per person.

As there are always some pregnant women who effectively have at least two in one body, the average across the human race must be over one each.
