OK, likely an overdiagnosed syndrome, but it appeared to me that on the "Making a Meal" ep, Cariad Lloyd was about to give us an exposition on embryonic diapause in marsupials -- or at least, was nodding in that direction. ("They can do something with their eggs, can't they, if they're nursing one joey--") Instead Stephen jumped in, contradicted her ("Just the reverse, actually!"), then went off on one of his length pre-planned expositions.

The strange thing is that they are both right. A kangaroo mother can have one grown joey, a newborn one, and a fertilized, but undeveloped egg at the same time.

Having seen this thread before watching the episode I was aware it would happen and it probably annoyed me even more than otherwise.

I do like that they included the fact, though, because kangaroos are quite interesting animals, there have a lot of oddities.
