the question is "what did prince albert invent?" and alan responds "cock ring", which then flashes up on the board. then stephen makes reference to a piercing. while the piercing is in fact called a prince albert, a "cock ring" refers to an entirely different sexual device and isn't called a prince albert. for specificity's sake, a cock ring is often made of a more pliable material and goes around the base of the shaft to help maintain an erection. it has nothing to do with piercing what so ever. alan should have some points back.

I wrote on the matter of whether Prince Albert did, in fact, have the adornment which is given his name at post 878575.

I tended to think that he probably didn't. But it's worth noting that The Lancet once ran an article which asserted that he did, and The Lancet does not normally source its stories in quite the same way as the Sunday Sport.
