I don't know if it's the show's fault, but I managed to get a surprising number of questions right, like the one about the mites and tongues. I'll pretend it's because I've got good at thinking in a QI fashion. :P

I'm pretty sure the fallopian tubas have been mentioned on the show before, but now it was explained better and had a picture of what sort of tubas they looked like, which cleared up some things.

Either way it was good fun.

I guessed bear, I like them. Arctophile stylee. Also Stephen's outfit was blindingly good and I enjoyed Alan's shirt. Also good to see Alan do so badly with the scores this series opener! Though I'm sure a QiXL might explain a little more how he managed to do so terribly despite his confused expression.
Must admit I did know about facial mites but I didn't know they died leaving a lifetime of waste, I had assumed being arseless meant they sick poo up on your face. So that was suitably educational.

Poor mite, poo-er mite, its not something I would enjoy do they not live long enough to be poisoned by it or something sciencey?

I was in the kitchen during the introductions, and spent the first 15 minutes or so wondering why Harry Hill was a guest. Until eventually someone called him Matt.

The instrument in the background picture was a cornu not a tuba.
The Roman tuba was a long straight instrument.
I have played the very same cornu shown in the picture.

It was a very good episode though.

This was the episode that Jenny and I (and our other halves) were supposed to attend the recording of, but we missed the start having spent too long in the pub :)

In our defence, the Powers That Be at QI changed the start time since Mr Lucas had another appointment (a football game, IIRC) which initially meant that he was unable to take part until the recording time was altered.

Brilliant "military" episode 😀😀😀😀😀!!!!

If Sheila Hancock is not made a Dame at the very least, there is no justice, she is utterly wonderful.

Also, I have heard of a punt gun being used to kill 243 starlings.....in a single shot.

According to the Radio Times website, the XL version of episode 3 is showing this Saturday evening.

Presumably to make up for the fact that Children in Need means there's no normal QI episode on the Friday.
