Quite interesting to me this one ...

On Thursday the 29th at 5.22am our son was born, weighng in at 8ibs 3oz. We named him Jake. A big boy and an interesting birth, especially considering my partner is rather small. There were a few complications but we are all home now. Mrs Commander and Jake are both doing very well indeed!

Congratulations Commander, MrsC and Jake! So glad to hear you're all doing well.

In your honour, of course, we could make this thread about all things to do with childbirth, which conveniently begins with C in time for the third series (DV).

Yes, well done. Nothing much happens for the next 18 months or so, you'll find, except for one curious thing: you take 8 lbs and 3 oz of Jakester and add nothing except powdered goat's milk, and the next thing you know he's a 16 lb 7 oz Jakester, at which point you realise he's more than half goat. Very odd.

Apart from our being awake at 5.30am!

He's fab. I can't stop staring at him.

Be prepared; when travelling, it's a well-known fact that any baby requires more gear than any three adults.

Best wishes for luck and love to Commander, Commanderess and Commanderlet.

Another C for the programme?

Maybe the 29th should be QJ day.
Very best wishes.

Congratulations!

I am sure this had no bearing on your choice of name, but did you know that JAKE is the acronym used to name an online service also known as the Jointly Administered Knowledge Environment?

JAKE (not Jake) is used in universities as a reference tool to make "finding, managing, and linking online journals and journal articles easier for students, researchers, and librarians."

That term might just as well apply to QI

Wow - that's a brilliant website - thanks Sapientum! Maybe you could also post that on the QI websites thread, with a bit more information about it?
