I have an American colleague who (last time I spoke to him) said he thought Trump was a better President than Bush or Obama on one criterion at least: the fact that, by not pursuing military action, he had killed fewer people than either of his predecessors.

Of course, his handling of the Coronavirus pandemic should balance up those figures rather dramatically.

That's one of the funniest things I've read in a long time.

Unless by "nearly brought peace" you mean "made a whole bunch of wild promises, massively misunderstood the entire situation*, held a botched summit that produced nothing, lost interest in the whole situation once it was obvious progress wasn't going to be made, and left the peninsula no better off (and arguably slightly worse) than when he started".

*To the extent that, in the Hanoi summit, Trump asked Kim Jong Un if he suffered trouble from the press back home.

I thought it was just me and my total lack of political knowldege that made me look askance at that statement, glad to know I do have something of a grasp of things.

A thought I had earlier.

"Why does Trump sign official documents with a Sharpie?"

"Because they can't trust him not to eat the crayons....."

I thought it might have been a joke, coming only days after the Norks blew up their negotiation buildings on the border.

Maybe, like President Trump, he was "being ironic"

Should Trump and Biden just give up now?

Now if we thought Trump was an egocentric arsehole...

also raises the possibility of a First Lady with a sextape... or two... or several.

Radio 4's lunchtime news program played out with a Kanye West track, followed by the announcement "That was Kanye West, ending The World This Weekend", which I thought was a little harsh.

Couldn't help wondering whether Trump's tripping over the word "Totalitarianism" was because he was trying to stop himself from laughing at the fools supporting him.

No, more likely his inability with the English language...

"long" is superfluous in that sentence, surely?
