Trump may have just gone beyond the pale

Little bits of the republican session the other night had the candidates talking about building a fence or wall along 'the border' to keep out undesirables.
I thought the US of A had 2 land borders. Are we to make a racist assumption and guess they were talking about the one with Canada?

The wall to the north would be to keep USAians in, away from state healthcare, low prescription costs and polite society.

I refuse to take part in this thread, or anything to do with presidential 'races' 15 months ahead of an election. Even if it is 'intresting', as the talking heads keep pronouncing it. Every bit of minutiae to do with this 'race' is seriously though to be 'intresting'. I'm turning it all off.

To some extent I agree Woodsman, I seriously wish they adopted the 3 week election system. However the opportunity for humour at the candidates' expense is just too tempting.

I apologize for putting a damper on the fun.

I'm pleased to see "who cares" is holding the lead at this point.

Not that I like the Republicans but if they end up with Trump as their Presidential candidate, this will show what a joke the Party has become. Makes them less credible.

What's disturbing is the apparent level of support he has.

Actually you could argue it has three, given that there is no connection between the Alaska/Canada border and the "lower 48"-Canada border.

For what it is worth, Scott Adams - who is perhaps better known for the "Dilbert" cartoon strips - has been commenting on Trump's campaign style and analysing why he believes that Trump's campaign has been so effective and seems to have kept him riding high in the polls so far.

What he has suggested is that Trump's support largely comes from the careful use of misdirection to control the media narrative and to deflect or counteract hostile questions. Couple with carefully judged phrases that give an impression of advocating affirmative action, yet are sufficiently vague as to allow those who listen to them to create their own favourable interpretation of the situation, and he believes that allows Trump to run a very effective campaign that enables him to dodge most media issues and to mobilise a large amount of support for him.

How is that difference from most politicans? :P

I think Trump will peter out as the field narrows - there is a solid tea-party inclined base of support, but I think he'll struggle to get beyond that, and that's no more than about a quarter of Republican voters.

Another asinine idea from a Republican contender ...

Apparently Kanye West is throwing his, probably expensive and blinging, hat into the ring for 2020.
