I would like to disagree with "fact" that children hate/dislikr clowns. I am a 23 yrs old woman and have always loved clown. This fact is not a proven statistic im not usually the kind of person to do this but I feel it needs to be stated "some" children actually do like clowns.

I've never felt one way or another towards clowns, but the clowns at the circus here didn't have very painted faces as far as I remember.

However, I always hated the class clowns.

Welcome georgiaocallaghan1 :-)

I don't remember ever having a problem with clowns as a child, but probably didn't see any until I was seven or eight.

Welcome, GoC.

I didn't hate them, exactly, but I always found them tedious. It was only as a young adult that I started to find them a bit creepy.

There are studies that suggest very young children might fear clowns because of the "Uncanny Valley" effect because they are at a stage where they begin to recognise standard body shapes and faces and they suddenly come across a completely different face on a body.

I don't think it's definitive, but it's a hypoethesis that appears plausible.
