What I've Learned From QI

First off, of course, I Learned many QI things.

I learned that the Blue Whale is never the right answer to any question. I avoid it every day.

I became shamefully aware if my General Ignorance.

I never knew that you could wear a purple suit and an orange tie on TV.

I learned that you say "Hoover" even if you own an Electrolux. And you say "Car Park" even though it's painfully obvious.

I learned a new appreciation for the civil nature you display when you respectfully pause for your fellow panelist as they have some comical tid-bit to say. (We tend to shout over each other here in the states).

I learned to better construct a sentence (Like that last one) as opposed to the extent of my observational skills being reduced to WTF or OMFG.

I learned the proper way to eat a carrot, or did I?

I learned that you can wear an orange suit with a purple tie. (barump bump crash!)

I learned how NOT to arrange a sausage and two potatoes on a plate. Presentation is everything. Mix it up a little and leave off the Alfredo sauce. Your drunk Uncle will comment.

I learned that Steven Fry brings out the gay side in me when he dresses like Oscar Wilde.

I now have a keen awareness of any subject related to a lavatory.

Most of all I learned that 1 in 10 European babies was conceived in an IKEA bed. In the catalog I believe it is listed as the "Kock". It's the Swedish word for “cook”. One double entendre after another. Swedes!

Thank you QI.

My God Man! It's just a bunch of people on a limited budget romping around on a $150 futon.

Now that's put a rather amusing picture in my mind...

Welcome to the QI forums, CtG.

The typical QI attitude... Other stories, same "fact":

1 in 10 babies in a specific country (IKEA bed)
1 in 10 babies in a specific country during the last 35 years (estimated by a competing professional, IKEA mattress)
1 in 10 babies in the world (IKEA bed)

Sex sells.

That's unfortunate timing, since the Blue Whale was the correct answer to a question in the most recent episode of the show :)

QI has also taught us all that whatever we think we know is horribly wrong, so I say that's in the spirit of things, Dr. Bob.

QI forum has taught me to take myself too seriously - particularly on what I think I know!

The QI forum isn't a good teacher: http://old.qi.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=32489. Articles of the QI forum aren't mentioned there that often.

You write with your right tentacle (or other pseudo-hand). Simple.

If there's an arrest record that might tell us.
