Sorry.

With the 'D' series chomping at the bit and the 'D' Forum being a bit sluggish except the Dark Matter/Dark Energy thread is it perhaps time for the 'E' series thread?

It may be a bit early of course but where on QI am I going to post Earspoon. Oh, hang on, Bohemian Earspoon. An answer presents itself. Question stands though.

Isn't a Bohemian Earspoon something you stick in your ear so you can't hear Freddy Mercury's terrible caterwauling?

Later versions of the partisan yielded a gradual change in the axe blades, so that they became almost unrecognizable as such. Typical of this is the Bohemian earspoon, a form of the partisan where the axes have been changed to serve as piercing spikes (primarily to be used against plate armor) with a ranseur-like function.

Although sticking a Bohemian earspoon in your ear would certainly stop you hearing anything, or breathing come to that.

When was the D series thread opened last time. Was it before or after the series started airing/began filming.

The first post on the D Series board was on 1 August 2005. It was made by Gray, who mentioned in it that the powers that be had decided it was time for a D Series board.

So a while to wait for your E's I fear.

Do they wait until the next series is commissioned?

I looked in this thread expecting it to be about floral clocks and it's all about medieval polearms and earwax, not to mention recreational drugs.

No, the D series was comissioned after the D thread started.

We were being optimistic :-)

But given that the D series is going to be hugely popular, how could they not commission series five?

You can tell you're stuck inside a whale's ear :)

I think that I remember reading somewhere that the amount of earwax indicates the age of the whale. Also the only way to tell the age of a certain species of whale (possibly the Baleen?) is by the amount of earwax.

Might be remembering wrong though.
