Supersonic aircraft are deliberately designed to be unstable to reduce their fuel consumption.

OK, I'll bite:

http://www.eurofighter.com/the-aircraft

"Strong, lightweight composite materials were key to the design of Eurofighter Typhoon to give it deliberate instability. Using them means the weight of the airframe is 30% less than for traditional materials, boosting the range and performance as well as reducing the radar signature."

Doesn't specifically mention fuel consumption but it appears to confirm what you said.

From my reading of the above - it doesn't confirm what PDR said. But it looks like a good educated counter-intuitive guess, nonetheless.

My statement was true - making these aircraft unstable doesn't significantly increase the agility (which is the usually-cited myth) but it does reduce the drag (and hence the fuel consumption) when supersonic for reasons which I'll happily explain (if anyone is actally interested) when I'm in a position to use a proper keyboard rather than this android tablet shite that I'm stuck with tonight.

Given that I know absolutely nothing about aviation, it was an inspired guess!

My choice of subject again then: languages.

There are six official languages in Switzerland.

Cars are named after the daughter of the inventor of the crank handle, Carmina Jones.

(Is that about languages? I suppose it's about English...)

Hungarian is not related to any other European language.

The Welsh spelling of the place-name "Llanelli" does not contain the letter L.

I claim a win. In the Welsh alphabet, the letters "L" and "LL" are distinct. "LL" is a letter in its own right which has a separate section in dictionaries. See, for example:

http://www.omniglot.com/writing/welsh.htm
http://www.madog.org/dysgwyr/gramadeg/gramadeg1.html
http://www.llangatwg.org.uk/links-w-alphabet.htm

So "Llanelli" is spelt with the six letters LL-A-N-E-LL-I. No L in there.

Under the new rule (5), normally the person choosing the subject has the right to adjudicate, but since it was me I have to nominate someone. I call on Posital to judge - was it a true claim?
