The fastest animal in the world is the cheetah.

All three of those are false, I'd say. Manx cats have tails usually, they're just very short. Some have regular-length ones. Elephants' trunks are as long as their bodies but the one point I'm not sure of is backwards flexibility. So this one could be true. And the fastest mammal is a cheetah but there are birds and fish faster than it (if we're counting those as animals).

You don't need to say that. The default assumption is that all statements posted in the game are false - you only challenge if you think something is true. But for the record, the two statements I posted are indeed false, for the reasons you gave. I'm not sure about Posital's either, which is why I didn't challenge.

Please feel free to continue the game with a statement of your own.

I chose the theme, though, am I still allowed to participate?

Of course - there's no rule saying you can't.

Well, in that case, giraffes' horns act as a kind of thermostat.

The attempted introduction of sheep to New Zealand was a failure.

Kangeroos were named after the characters created by AA Milne as a type of portmanteau.

Cats don't actually have a sense of taste.

I claim a win under rule (4).

http://www.teara.govt.nz/en/1966/sheep-farming

"It is of historical significance only that Captain Cook, on 20 May 1773, set ashore at Queen Charlotte Sound a ram and a ewe – the survivors of six sheep brought from Cape of Good Hope. The attempted introduction failed with the death of both sheep in a few days. Sheep were not successfully introduced until 60 years later." (From An Encyclopaedia of New Zealand, 1966, edited by A. H. McLintock.)

Agreed?

No objections so I'll start off the next round. The subject is broadcasting. To avoid any confusion about whether one can post in one's own category, I'll make the first statement:

The first regular BBC television broadcasts came from Alexandra Palace.
