I cannot remember a citation for this anecdote. I only remember it as being published by Penquin Books. Help!

A long time ago I read a penguin book on Konrad Lorenz, the famous animal behaviorist famous for coining the expression "pecking order" He had in addition to his flock of geese, a raptor of some sort and he would often take the bird out for a "walk". He would take the raptor out on his shoulder and remove the hood. The bird would go flying off for a hunt. Just as the bird got to the far extreme of its visual range, Lorenz would "whip out" a strip of beef jerky that he kept in his coat pocket for the purpose of recalling the bird.

One day he so far forgot himself as to "take a leak". Imagine his surprise.

"Mein Gott, I taught him zu do it.".
